Promotion System

The results of the Committee’s deliberations are reported to the Board of Directors.
Response to Large-Scale Disasters (BCP)
Initiatives
(1) Disaster management system
Yasuda Logistics has established rules for the Disaster Prevention Committee, and a Central Disaster Prevention Committee, chaired by an executive officer appointed by the president, meets once every six months, with a focus similar to that for ensuring occupational health and safety. Members of the Committee include the chairs of each region’s disaster prevention committee within the Company, as well as a representative from each group company to the Yasuda Logistics Group.
The Central Disaster Prevention Committee, like the Central Health and Safety Committee, conducts overall management of activities related to day-to-day disaster prevention, such as setting monthly priority activities and managing the progress of annual activity plans finalized at the beginning of each fiscal year. Established under the Central Disaster Prevention Committee are disaster prevention committees for each region that are composed of their respective disaster prevention committee branches (established at each office or workplace), and these committees conduct patrols in their region and hold health and safety committee meetings once a month. In addition, the Central Disaster Prevention Committee conducts central patrols from time to time.
The disaster prevention committees at each branch set up a self-defense firefighting team for their branch under the supervision of each region’s disaster prevention committee to conduct planned evacuation drills. These committees also conduct voluntary patrols in a timely manner and endeavor to raise disaster prevention awareness. Group companies are also engaged in similar efforts on a company-by-company basis.
(2) Disaster prevention efforts and BCP
Based on the rules of the Company’s Disaster Prevention Committee, the Yasuda Logistics Group conducts disaster prevention drills (both evacuation and fire-fighting drills) and disaster prevention patrols according to annual plans at each Company office and workplace and each company affiliated to the Group. We are also implementing measures to maintain disaster supplies, such as emergency food, and ensure emergency communication via satellite phones.
In addition, we are working to raise awareness of and promote disaster prevention among employees by having them participate in first-aid and life-saving courses and hands-on disaster prevention training provided by the fire department.
In preparation for damage caused by heavy snow, wind and water damage caused by torrential rain or typhoons, and disasters such as earthquakes and fires, the Group has a framework in place to first confirm the safety of employees using a safety confirmation system and then assess the damage to stored goods, buildings, and equipment at each branch using a disaster information management system. Each company conducts training on how to enter information into these two systems once every three months in order to ensure its effectiveness.
The Company has already established a business continuity plan (guidelines) in preparation for anticipated large-scale earthquakes. In response to the global spread of COVID-19 (pandemic), we are applying the new influenza countermeasure guidelines we already had in place, as a conventional infection control measure, to continue our business operations.
In recent years, natural disasters have tended to become more severe due to climate change, and major earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions may occur at any time. Given this, the Company has formulated a new business continuity plan (BCP) that takes into account business continuity in the event of a large-scale disaster and has established a comprehensive system of internal regulations for disaster response and business continuity.
Based on this new BCP, every six months, the entire Group conducts training that anticipates various situations, including not only earthquakes and fires, but also water damage caused by heavy rain. Issues identified during the training are not only addressed for future improvement but are also reported to the management team. Each branch conducts training on internal rules and reviews them periodically. By systematically implementing these activities, we will achieve continuous improvement through a PDCA cycle and maintain the effectiveness of management systems related to the BCP.
